I& #39;m pretty sure a deadly virus TURNING OFF capitalism is what led to these bread lines. And I doubt that says anything one way or the other about its merits or lack thereof. Maybe stop using a murderous pathogen that& #39;s killing people& #39;s families to make dumb ideological points. https://twitter.com/jackcalifano/status/1249479470815121408">https://twitter.com/jackcalif...
You don& #39;t have to be a conservative to understand that this is both wrong and gross. And you can (and *should*) argue for better policies to protect American workers during this plague without instrumentalizing their suffering to push lazy talking points and Twitter dunks.
In case it& #39;s not obvious, this is true in reverse. The dire coronavirus stats from some countries with superb socialized healthcare systems and vast welfare states doesn& #39;t discredit them. It just reflects that our societies aren& #39;t set up to deal with a once-in-a-century pandemic.
Like any massive stress test, the coronavirus has highlighted weaknesses across societies & systems. To the extent these exist in any country, each country must fix them. But the virus has not provided some final victory to one model or another, except for glib & lazy ideologues. https://twitter.com/Yair_Rosenberg/status/1249541062764507141">https://twitter.com/Yair_Rose...
