Indeed, diversity is a hallmark of the usps.

" 39 percent [minorities] & women comprising 40 percent of the workforce. 21 percent .. are African-American; 8 percent.. Hispanic; 8 percent.. Asian-American/Pacific Islander; and 0.67 percent are American Indian/Alaska Native."
Rural america would be hard hit by USPS closure:

"..poorer postal customers in rural America [would] bear the brunt of higher rates & slower service on “inessential” deliveries, & less profitable rural POs targeted for closure, but... likely be singled out for extra costs. "
The USPS hires vets at 3x the national rate, and they make up 113000 of USPS employees.
Of course, the USPS offers vote by mail, and on states like OR (Ll vote by mail), CO, WA, UT where that is big, voter participation is much higher. In 2016 80% of eligible, registered Oregonians voted.
Don't shutter the USPS. Save it.
