the only absolute S-tier yes hugging yes learning sitcom is the simpsons. if you think you can match the simpsons then by all means, use your comedy show to make characters learn lessons.

the key is the simpsons never forewent a joke. schurshit forgoes jokes whenever possible. if there's ever the slightest opportunity to show how great a character is or how sad it is that a couple broke up he pounces on it like a starved animal

bad things happening to people is objectively funnier than good things. the people on television are not real, nor are they my friends. they exist to amuse me. if you're not going to put in the necessary and difficult work to make me want good things for them, just punish them.

the simpsons and community both put in that work. cheers, to an extent. few others.
