I've been offered a promotion twice recently but god, I believe in the Peter Principle so much, promotions scare me..
Like promotions only push you up to your level of incompetence bc you lack the skills needed by your new position.. magaling ka sa previous job mo but that doesnt equate to being as equally successful kasi they require a diff skill set
You get promoted bc you're good at something. Ironically, you're promoted to do something else.

So you become a blank slate again, needing a new set of skills required by your new position.. in short, you become incompetent.
example, isa ka lang humble na empleyado, doing your clerical job properly tas ipo-promote ka into manager which will require you to handle people, oversee others' jobs, etc. So sa tanang buhay mo as empleyado, kelan ka nagka chance to gain a managerial skill set?
parang sa pulitika din yan, nanahimik ka sa small city mo as mayor, doing a successful(?) job as required of you and then bam! gagawin ka biglang presidente ng universe, what would the people expect? that your skills in a city can be applied effectively to a bigger nasasakupan?
At the end of this thread, I will say:

"The higher we think we go up, the nearer we are to our level of incompetency."

ps. unless.. you work your ass off gaining the skills required of you.
