the amount of shit Diane Abbott has gone through in her line of duty honestly makes me tear up every time i think about it. it& #39;s not enough to be & #39;strong& #39; and & #39;resilient& #39; when this kind of prolonged and institutional misogynoir moves like a violent virus in the body.
where do Black women go to feel safe when working within social change? who do we rely on when often & #39;social change& #39; rhetoric excludes Black women& #39;s liberation? it isn& #39;t heroic or brave to fight the good fight against all odds, it& #39;s survival and not everyone can see it through.
sometimes representation politics feels selfish and indulgent. i love seeing Abbott and Butler as a reflection of what could be. i hate that the thinnest silver lining comes at a cost of their humanity and Black womanhood within these spaces.
i& #39;m too drunk for this. it& #39;s not a surprise that this country and it& #39;s people see us as disposable. it doesn& #39;t make it hurt any less.
