Kacchako Soulmate AU where when you turn 16 y.o the first word your soulmate says to you is written on your skin. In this au, Uraraka doesn't attend UA, but still pursues to be a hero...

"Huh?"

Uraraka frowns as she looks at the soul mark that's appeared.
Since she was little, she's dreamed of what her soulmates first words would be to her, from friendly greetings to accidental gestures. Never did she think it would be what looked like the physical form of keyboard smashing.

"Ochako, is THAT your soul mark?!"
She winced at her friend's shrill voice. "Ah, y-yeah, looks like it," she laughed nervously, anxiously pulling on the sleeve of her shirt to cover the soul mark on her left wrist.

"What kinda soul mark is that?" another friend asked.
Uraraka wanted to hide. Instead, she shrugged and sent her friends a fake smile.

Long after her friends left her birthday party, she traced the words permanently etched into her skin. 'Well,' she thought to herself, 'at least it's unique.'
That night, she came to the decision that no matter what happens, she'd accept her soulmate no matter what. She just hoped they would appear soon.

"Yo, is this seat taken?"

Feeling her heart drop, Uraraka shook her head with a small smile before looking away.
She's in her final year at the hero high school she's attending, and this was the last class of the day.

Since her soul mark appeared, she's been imagining different scenarios of how their first word to her comes to be.
Perhaps they were shy? Or maybe the opposite, they were brash and loud? Will she hear them while walking the hallways of her school? Or out in the field while she's fighting villains?

What if her soulmate was a...

'Stop that,' she shook her head with a pout.+
'They're not a villain. They're a good person. I know it.' She gripped her pencil tighter in her resolve.

"Uravity! You're my favorite hero!"

"Look over here!"

"OI! URAVITY! OVER HERE!"

"We love you, Uravity!"

'Wow, there's so many people!' Uraraka thought to+
herself, overwhelmed by the amount of reporters in this room. She's been a sidekick for about a year for the Dragon Hero: Ryuku, but it feels like she's already a full fledged hero.

Ryuku told her that after this press conference, there was a chance she could finally branch out+
on her own. It felt surreal that she was the one in questioning, not her mentor, and she didn't know how to thank her mentor for the opportunity.

Uraraka told her so, and Ryuku waved her off saying it was all her. She wasn't sure about that.
Uraraka answers the press' questions to the best of her abilities with a bright smile. When they ask her if she knows who her soulmate is, her smile dims.

With the feeling of her soul mark burning under her hero costume, she forces herself to swallow the ache in her chest.

"Nice job out there, Uravity!"

Uraraka nods and smiles brightly at the passerby, though inside she feels the familiar ache in her chest.

It's been five years since she'd turned 16 and her soul mark appeared. For five years she's been searching for her soulmate,+
but with no avail. She's a little ashamed that she's spent nights crying into her pillow, wallowing in the selfish pain that her friends have all found their soulmates but her.

But she's patient, and she knows when the day arrives, she'll meet her soulmate with open-
"HELP! SOMEBODY, HELP US!"

Uraraka snaps out of her thoughts and swivels expertly towards the commotion, already running in full speed. She taps herself to lighten her weight and run faster.

She finds the villain quickly and engages with them; their quirk seems to liquefy+
everything they touch, including themselves. It only lasts for a minute or so, but it makes it difficult for her to use her quirk or fight in hand in hand combat.

Just before using her special move: Comet Home Run with a partly crumbled pillar, a loud "BOOM" permeates the air.
She hesitates briefly and looks upward toward the sound. Several smokey rings hang in the air, like a bull's eye.

Wait... That ring in the center isn't smoke, and it's falling /toward them!/

Her heart pounds faster as her eyes widen, realizing that the center eye was a person,+
and that person had an explosive hero costume with wild blonde hair and crazed red eyes.

She recognized him as one of the fastest rising heroes of her time. She admired him from what she heard, but has never heard him speak.

Could it be him? Is he the one?
Her heart thumped loudly in her chest as hope filled her being.

Her soul mark burned on her wrist, the pressure from her gauntlet making it almost painful.
Excitement filled her being as he exploded closer and closer.

He opened his mouth and her breath hitched.
"RAAAAAAAAAAQEEEEEEEEENDIIIIIIIIIIIIIEEEEEEEEEE!!"

That's him. That's her soulmate.
She smiled wide as he screamed loud profanities, his words mushed so much together they seemed to not be part of the Japanese or English language.

Happy tears filled her eyes as she watched her soul mate scream before landing a powerful blow on the villain she was fighting.
But she can celebrate finding her soulmate later. For now, she needs to help him capture this villain.

She wore the villain down, but not they can finish them.

With the fallen street light still in her hand, she looked around to see what she can bat toward the villain.+
She shifted her stance and heard something rolling away.

Looking down she spotted a canister of a chemical she recognized from her chemistry class. They were several scattered nearby from a truck that tipped over.

Her eyes widen as a plan formulates in her mind. 'That's it!'
Using the heel of her boot, she lifted one the canister airborne and tapped it to make it weightless.

She crouched, keeping the pillar close with one hand as she went on tapping the other canisters with the other until there were several hovering together.
Gripping the pillar firmly in her grasp, she readys herself and took a deep breath.

"CATCH!"

Red eyes meet hers as she uses the pillar to swing like a baseball bat, groaning from the effort.

Suddenly, all the floating canisters are launched in the direction of her soulmate+
and the villain.

His eyes widen slightly before narrowing, a sharp smirk matching the dangerous glint in his eyes.

Lights pop in his palms as he brings his hands together just as the canisters get close, and within seconds a massive explosion blocks her vision.
Uraraka raises her arm to block the heat, smoke, and small debris her visor doesn't protect her from, squinting in attempt to look past the it.

A moment later it calms down and she lowers her arm, wondering if the other hero caught on to her plan.

Then again she didn't /say/+
anything about her plan except 'Catch'...

Oh no, what if he didn't catch on? She heard he was incredibly intelligent, but maybe she heard wrong? No, she couldn't have-

"Catch huh?"
The smoke finally cleared to show the villain completely frozen, frost covering their fighting stance except their eyes that were moving around frantically. With their face contorted into a grimace, the look was comical.

Next to them unharmed, walking toward her was+
The Explosion Hero: Ground Zero.

Her soulmate.

Uraraka grinned back as she half skipped to meet him half way.

"Better than 'Raqendie'," she quipped back. He shrugged and she giggled back.

They stood in front of each other, eyes absorbing all they can of each other.
"Where the hell did you find liquid nitrogen in fucking canisters?" her soulmate rumbled in a deep voice. She liked it.

"A food truck sold liquid nitrogen ice cream," she explained, turning her head to look at the police that arrived at the scene. "They kept the nitrogen in+
canisters for easy and safe storing."

"Well that's dangerous, but... You did good... Th-the plan I mean. It was smart- /you/ were smart- are smart- er-"

Uraraka giggled and beamed back at her soulmate who was looking away with a flushed scowl.

Her mind realed; /her soulmate!/
"You did pretty well yourself, soulmate," she smiled with a blush.

His red eyes dart back to meet hers and she shudders at the intensity.

"Come home with me," he grumbled.

Uraraka flushed.

Realizing what he said, he sputters, "F-for a dinner! I mean date! /Dinner date/!+
Fucking-"

Holding back her laughter and failing to keep her blush from worsening, she smiles. "I'd love to."
