There's a smugness to Buttigieg campaign staff that I find annoying. What did Buttigieg accomplish to merit this degree of arrogance?

Inslee, Booker, Warren, Sanders, Steyer, and hell, even Bennet shifted the national conversation on major issues. How did Buttigieg do so?

Inslee - Climate justice
Booker - Baby bonds + CJ reform
Warren & Sanders: healthcare, student loans, CJ reform, etc
Castro - immigration
Steyer - Reparations
Bennet - Child poverty

How did Buttigieg move the needle? I wanted more from his candidacy.

One of the undeniable impacts of Buttigieg's candidacy is the historic nature of his candidacy. His identity as an open and proud LGBTQ+ man cements his position in history. That in itself is extremely noteworthy and deserving of praise.

Policy-wise, I just don't see it. I don't see how he shifted the needle on any of these pressing national conversations. He embodied the paternalistic condescension of many baby boomers I know, and that's what frustrates me about him. He had so much promise.

RIP to a campaign that had the most potential out of anyone except Warren and Sanders, and later rejected nearly everything it stood for in the early days after Buttigieg's announcement.
