Genuine question. Does it actually make people feel better to go on and on about what might have been if the government had acted differently? It didn’t and there’s nothing that can be done at this moment other than just get on with things. I’m not an expert....
...I don’t know what the figures mean precisely, if they’re directly comparable with other places and what’s going to happen in the long run. I do believe that it’s not helpful to people’s mental health to focus on the negative (yes, I know there are few positives)
There’s nothing any of us can do beyond trying to help others, stay in, do our best. We’re presumably not calling for an election or a coup. There’s no mechanism to change the government. So in some senses we have no options beyond trying to be a bit positive.
There will come a time for a period of reckoning but I don’t think it’s now. Yes, the press should be holding the government to account and asking questions but I think it is monumentally unhelpful always to think that everything said is automatically a lie ....
...or some massive conspiracy. Anyway, it’s all monumentally stressful for everyone and I think we just need to look out for each other. The situation is tragic enough without us adding to it.
You can tell I’m stressed because I keep saying ‘monumentally’ .
