update on this: he was hanging around loads so i posted in some groups to see if he was missing, then we got him scanned for a chip and turned out his owners lived in wythenshawe and that he’d been missing for 6 months!!!
they just came to collect him, he’s called coco and grew up with a little girl who was in the back of the car and really excited to be reunited with him cos she grew up with him 
so turns out if a cat is meowing and hanging around a lot you should check it out cos it might be long lost and in need of a home 
was sad saying bye to him and i think he felt betrayed cos i put him in a box but i’m hoping he’s gonna be v happy and looked after
