A lil thread on #SaveUSPS: It’s #DisasterCapitalism that this political administration is egregiously suppressing voting rights, rolling back multiple protections, privatizing services that are for the public good, and giving massive cash bail outs to crooked corporations...1/

...(while buying stock in those same corporations). So I’m trying to find something small that I can do each day to not let my sense of alienation grow. I called 2 of my congressional representatives ( @RepAdamSchiff Schiff & @RepCardenas) to ask them to do everything they can..2/

...to #SaveTheUSPS. The move to dismantle the USPS would cost 600,000 people their jobs. The Republicans are claiming that the USPS is running at a loss, but that’s also because they forced the USPS to fund pensions in the worst possible way – in order to hobble the USPS...3/

... #USPS jobs are one of the major ways that people of color have moved into the middle class. The USPS is one of the largest employers of veterans. And, for all politicians’ talk about “rural America,” the USPS actually services those areas – including the most remote...4/

... and nearly unreachable parts of this country. That is something that no privatized delivery service does – FedEx and UPS offload the hardest parts of their routes to the #USPS. And one of the biggest reasons that Repubs for the last 2 decades have tried to kill the USPS...5/

...is because Repubs are desperate to prevent vote by mail as the standard way we conduct elections. Imagine – since we live in a country where we don’t get a holiday for voting day (as many other countries do), how many people could and would participate?...6/
