okay literally no one asked for this but I’m drunk for the first time in over a month so here is my list of unpopular literary opinions (thread)
Hillbilly elegy was not as bad as everyone led me to believe it was. If you assume that everyone in KY fits into a stereotype then that’s on your poor interpretation as a reader.
I love LOTR but the first book is hard to get into. The hobbits complain too much, im sorry. The movie does a better job of getting on with it.
Some of Stephen king’s books could be a lot shorter. Love him but there is more editing to be done.
Speaking of SK, I will never forgive him for a certain chapter of It. If you know you know (this is not necessarily an unpopular opinion tho)
Everyone either loves or hates catcher in the rye. Not sure which side is actually unpopular, but I love that book as much as I did ten years ago. If u were ever truly angsty it’s a classic.
You can like ayn rand and not be a psycho. I’ve been embarassed to admit I like atlas shrugged, but reading that and the fountainhead at a young age forced me to think for myself and was a good exercise in thinking critically, which im grateful for.
Heathcliff and Catherine in wuthering heights drive me crazy. People always use that one quote out of context and I just want to tell them that relationship is not inspirational ugh.
I love love love pride and prejudice but im surprised Emma is not more popular ? Shoutout to clueless tho for sure.
Everyone shits on twilight and it is what it is. But Stephanie Meyer also wrote the host and I love that book to this day.
And perhaps lastly, one of my all time favorite books is a YA novel. Used to think I was too old for that but that’s BS. Like what you like. Good books are good books. I’ll add more to this thread if I think of anything.
