THREAD: A quick Easter story about the origins of this prolific photo. It is known as the Chicago Boys or Sunday’s Best.
It was taken by two white photographers (Russel Lee and Edward Roscomb) in 1941 outside of the Regal theater in the Bronzville neighborhood on Chicago’s south side. They were documenting the great migration through photography and took many now well known images. That’s them

The kid in the middle has now been identified as Spencer Lee Reagus SR. He was 14 at the time of the photo and he never knew the fame this photo had amounted or even saw it until 2007. He went on to serve in the Vietnam War.
He married became a plaster Forman, and started a family on the far southside Roseland Neighborhood. (My neighborhood
