my step-father was a pastor of a mega church..my mama has an extremely high salary. but as an adult i still questioned how he was able to afford what we had when i was a kid (i.e, multi million dollar home, vacations, shopping sprees, at one point a rolls royce) a thread.

as a kid i thought between my mama & dads salary we were just fortunate. then there was a church split. my step-dad told me it was because church members were upset that we had nice things & they didn’t. i didn’t understand..

as an adult i figured out how churches & organized religion works. i hated it. to this day i still don’t know if he was outright stealing, or if he was just preying on people & being one of those pastors who pressures people to give ridiculous amounts of money.

there is a very thin line between a cult & a church. and looking back. our “church” was actually more like a cult.. this is reason number 1628268 why i don’t practice organized religion. i believe in god, but i can’t involve myself in organized religion.
