I never knew that Keaton Henson and Soko were in a relationship and they both wrote songs about each other, here is what I could find out (1)
they used to be together back in 2007 and he was her first love, in her 2011 song “First Love Never Die” she wrote: “4 years and i still cry sometimes, first love never die” “now your hair is long and you look so thin, you’re always so pale but something has changed” (2)
in 2010, Keaton’s “You Don’t Know How Lucky You Are” in which he addresses Soko’s bf at that time, “does he know who you are? does he laugh just to know what he has? does he know not to talk about your dad? does he know when you’re sad?” Soko’s dad died when she was young. (3)
in 2012, Soko wrote this post on facebook mentioning Keaton Henson and his cover of “Always on my Mind” (5)
in 2013, Keaton released his album “Birthdays” in which he talked about Soko in a couple of songs like “10am Gare Du Nord” and “Sweetheart, What Have You Done To Us” (7)
in 10am Gare Du Nord, “Please do not hurt me, love, I am a fragile one and you are the white in my eyes, please do not break my heart, i think it’s had enough pain to last the rest of my life” https://soundcloud.com/kaymhmd5/keaton-henson-10am-gare-du-nord (8)
“And if all you wanted was songs for you, well, here goes, after all that you’ve put me through, here’s one for you” “and God, you were the one who told me not to be so English” she asked him not to act so cold https://soundcloud.com/kaymhmd21/keaton-henson-sweetheart-what-have-you-done-to-us (9)
in 2015, Soko wrote “Keaton’s Song”, in which she said “You write it all down, you say it keeps you alive, you grew a beard to hide behind so I cannot read your mind” “You wonder why I hit myself, I’m trying to kill the worst in me to be the best for you” (10)
“You’re sick and tired of seeing me cry, you don’t know how to calm me down, please read me poems and make me laugh” “remind me of how lucky i am” (that could be a reference to Keaton’s You Don’t Know How Lucky You Are https://soundcloud.com/kaymhmd21/soko-keatons-song (11)
