Answer: I am not being paid.
I guess some people are not happy with what I am doing.

Full disclosure: I have done some (very occasional) consultancy work to serve as an expert on whether or not images were identical/had duplications. The ultimate decision about researchers' integrity is not with me but with publishers/institutes.

This is similar to a judge or jury who will look at e.g. a pathologist's report on a person's cause of death or a patent lawyer who calls in an expert witness about similarity between two patents. It's (occasional) paid work for me, but I do not judge.

Salient detail: The person who had issues with my resume is French. I am wondering if some French scientist or one of their fans is not happy with my work......
