#SaveThePostOffice because everyone in the USA benefits from their service & money-hungry lobbyists & politicians want (and have been trying for decades) to replace them with private, expensive companies like fedex and ups which would gut everyone who relies on their rates

take etsy sellers for example- all the artists that make a living mailing their stuff to customers thru usps bc prints & jewelry & scarves and such are lightweight and can be mailed very cheaply. a Lot of people would be out of work if they had to work with ups & fedex’s rates.

they would almost always be operating at p extreme losses!!!!
also- not to mention the fact that a lot of the time UPS & fedex dont even take packages all the way to your door. where i’m at, they almost always drop it off at the local post office & let them carry it the last mile

so if there was no longer a usps to fill in the gaps for them... i guess people like me (in rural areas) would start being charged far more to get things, or they’d make me come to their distro center 30 miles away every time lol.

(anecdotal but quite literally the first time i got a fedex package they made me do this lol. they didn’t even TRY to find my house but at least from then on they just started handing my stuff off to usps. like literally what is the point of “premium service” when they do this)
