people think that because i wear makeup i am well off financially...

bitch until 12 months ago exactly I was never paid to make content. my hourly job and freelancing were how i paid bills. even now as a contracted content creator with sephora i have to take off of work to film+
so sometimes I will make a good check but because i fly out a lot i got my hours reduced at work overall. so in the end i almost break even with what i would USUALLY make with my hourly + freelancing.

i’ve yet to hit the point where I am doing extremely well for myself.
it’s a struggle to live as a beauty content creator in the sense that everyone thinks you make racks because you wear lashes…

when this pandemic closed my store and all my freelancing appointments got moved or cancelled do you know how scared this has made me?
content creating still doesn’t make me a TON of money. It makes up 1/4th of what I usually make. then another 1/4 is my hourly job & 1/2 of what I make is freelancing work.

Also, WITH content creation you’re constantly self supplying new clothes & accessories even more often+
that isn’t a REQUIREMENT to do but if i’m it’s definitely something i always put money to the side for b/c with sephora every time I fly out 4 new tops get filmed every other month

& i’ve only been shopping in the correct gender for as long as i’ve been making sponsored content
i learned quickly how fast that eats through your wardrobe and you find yourself wanting to make sure you have something new to wear in everything people see you in.

but all that aside I am a struggling artist at the end of the day. being a makeup artist is alllll i want in life
