chilis being a post-columbian food that originate in the americas means a bunch of south asian food is only possible because of trade routes established by settler colonialism, which is wild, bc even if my family didn't leave india our daily habits would be contingent on genocide
like is it not ridiculous that the south asian diaspora has a global reputation for spicy cuisine but attachments to that aspect of cultural identity are predicated on the violence of settlement and slavery? and that goes for a lot of other asian food too! blows my mind lol
