I don’t understand why anyone thinks DSA would endorse Biden. His policies are certainly not DSA’s. It’s possible that a few members will work on his campaign. More will vote for him, particularly in swing states. But an organizational endorsement is a whole different thing.
It means that the candidate’s policies and proposals align with those of the organization, not just that you can’t stand the other guy more. That may result in an individual vote, but not an organization’s endorsement.
One important factor is that it’s likely the Dems will make the argument that they would have responded to the coronavirus disaster more effectively than Trump did. Well, yes and no. It’s unlikely that the My Pillow guy would have been invited to a Biden presser.
But the Mayor of my city was encouraging the local citizenry to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day in our local drinking establishments. And the Dems in Congress largely capitulated to the GOP demands for the Gigantic Slush Fund.
And it’s Dem politicians who have written eviction moratoriums from a template provided by the realtors. (Folks, there’s a reason why they’re so similar.) And how many of them have taken any action to insure that grocery clerks and warehouse workers have protection?
And the Dem campaign will entirely skip or miss (it’s sometimes hard to tell whether it’s incompetence or perfidy) the structural issues that got us into this mess—issues the left has been raising for decades. Trump is singularly incompetent, but have the Dems done much better?
In California, the Big Blue State, only the left has been insisting that people experiencing homelessness be moved from congregate shelters to hotel rooms to prevent the virus there. But the Dems didn’t listen and we’re now looking at moving people to hotels to limit the spread.
