Great THREAD about how @aegallo was able to tell a story about the doctors and nurses @ololhealth as they fight to save coronavirus patients. Read it @NOLAnews @theadvocatebr and please subscribe if you’re able. https://twitter.com/aegallo/status/1249391398559854593
@NOLAnews has told the story of what’s happening inside La. hospitals for weeks. Check out this four-byline (!) story from early in the outbreak when drs. and nurses were braced for the worst. https://www.nola.com/news/coronavirus/article_fea0282a-6dff-11ea-946b-b78e9c45313c.html
Most of the doctors and nurses that have talked to us did so anonymously—potentially risking their jobs while putting their health at risk—because they thought New Orleans and South La. should know what’s going on inside our hospitals. https://www.nola.com/news/coronavirus/article_0a01ee00-6e29-11ea-9f1a-874949baed92.html
Very impressed that @ololhealth saw value in letting us in for this story—potentially warts and all. Would’ve loved to show New Orleanians what’s going on in our hospitals too w/o relying mostly on tips and anon sources, but hospital execs here haven’t allowed it.
At the end of the day though, most important thing we’ve tried to tell readers: everybody keep staying home to help our healthcare workers take care of us. Curve is flattening. We’re gonna get through this.
