In 2016, I went for an aptitude test. I met a southerner who said the hausas are not intelligent & he has never seen a first class northerner. The exams was 2 parts & you must score atleast 60% in all sections to proceed to the next. The 10 of us that passed were all northerners.
Everytime I travel to Southern or Eastern states, I dress fully in my trads. All I hear is people calling me Alhaji or Alfa & all I see is people rushing to assist you, smiling at you, & expecting you to give them cash. If you call me Malo or Aboki I will address you right away!
These usually comes from the unexposed ones. I have realised that most of them never travelled outside their zone & few have interacted with core northerners. They will be asking you all sort of questions & you have to be debunking & correcting so many ill notions about the north
But then, our dear Arewa, in bera da sata daddawa ma da wari. Our people down here do all sorts of low life jobs, misbehave & live miserably. Our people leave the North to come & shine shoe, cut nails or become gatemen.There is dignity in labor dont get me wrong. But come on!
If you see beggers down south, speak hausa to them and there is every possibility that they will respond. On the streets of Lagos you will see them sitting, mostly women with little kids begging! A wulakance! You will see a cluster of women that have left the North to come & beg!
It is really painful everywhere you see hausawa down south a wulakance zaka gansu. Even the laborers are not educated &cant speak slightly decent English. These are the people they see & call aboki in the most derogatory way! To them all northerners are that way. Arewa, blame US!
Northerners are the most accommodating people in Nigeria. The few that have interacted with northerners have so many good testimonies. We have our bad eggs, but an average northerner is kind & honest. Dear Arewa, we have to be the authors of our own story. We need to wake up!!!
