IVE SAID IT BEFORE AND ILL SAY IT AGAIN!

PE CLASS IS AN AWFUL ABLEIST CLASS THAT HAS NEVER TAKEN KIDS WITH DISABILITIES AND HEALTH CONDITIONS SERIOUSLY. IT ALIENATES, BELITTLES , AND ENDANGERS LIVES.

PE TAUGHT KIDS WITH PROBLEMS THAT THEY’RE A FAILURE
PE FORCES A STANDARD ONTO CHILDREN WITHOUT TAKING INTO CONSIDERATION THEIR STRENGTHS AND WEAKNESSES. PE LACKS THE “EDUCATION” PART AND IS PHYSICAL TORTURE WITHOUT PROPER REASON

PE NEEDS AN OVERHAUL BECAUSE AS IT STANDS IT IS STRAIGHT UP UNFAIR AND CRUEL
PE HAS NEVER SHOWN ME OR ANY OTHER KID WITH HEALTH ISSUES MERCY.
IT SETS SPORTY PEOPLE AS THE EXAMPLE AND KICKS DOWN ANYONE WHO DOESN’T INDULGE IN COMPETITION.
PE TAUGHT NOTHING ABOUT HOW TO TAKE CARE OF YOUR BODY. PE TAUGHT YOU THAT YOU NEED TO BE LIKE SOMEONE ELSE
Okay now that I’m not yelling

There are certainly good cases of PE in America. If you had a good experience: THANK GOD. I would never wish anyone to suffer like a lot of people did under ableist teaching and testing. I’m in CA, if that helps anyone.
My experience has been consistent through 2 elementary schools, middle, and high school. I was lucky to have been able to take dance my final required year, where we actually learned how to properly stretch. Any pain I felt was bc of me and not the class.
But all PE classes beforehand had left me in immense pain, tears from hurt or anxiety, or literally passed out. I couldn’t say “no” to exercise that ruined my body. For years I was told I’m lazy because I couldn’t run. One time I broke my glasses just to get out of class.
For years I believed I couldn’t run, already knowing I had health problems. But then I got onto an elliptical. And I could run a 7 minute mile.

All I needed was an elliptical. Because it removed the pain when slamming my feet into the ground from running.
PE lacks the care or even funding to give people with health issues a chance to exercise and often hires ableist teachers who believe the athletic exception should be the normal. Not to mention the standardized testing is based off of lies and makes no sense in general.
