I have just discovered what it must have felt like for Kevin when he spilled his chilli.
You may be wondering gee, Aimee. What do you mean by this. Well I’ll tell you.
I prepared a bowl of Amy’s Organic Chili (Spicy) and added garlic and other spices to it. You know. Like you do. Happy Easter by the way.
And I made my way over to our couch and put the bowl of chilli down on the arm rest as I went back for my drink (water of course). Here’s where things get spicy.
Somewhere among my hula hoop resting against the side of the couch, me moving the blanket on the couch over so I can sit, trying to ignore the man staring out the window across the street (is he staring at me? Can’t tell), and me actually going to sit down, the chilli topples.
The chilli topples. I heroically spring into action. At this point I am sitting and the chilli is spilling and I am grabbing the bowl to save what I can (mama’s gotta eat) and the chilli is spilling on me and my skin is burning and I’m running to kitchen with my third-full bowl—
—I “place” the bowl on the counter and rip off my clothes because chilli is still on them and it’s burning my skin and my arm is coated with chilli and it’s burning too and so I run my arm under the cold water of the sink and I am laughing because I’m thinking of Kevin.
Now I know my roommates will see this and be concerned for the couch. Don’t worry, I cleaned up the crime scene. The heap on the couch, the beans trail on the carpet of me running to end my agony, etc. But I know there is someone out there wondering about the chilli.
The chilli tragically took the brunt of the fall, and I was left with a mostly empty bowl, a hungry stomach, a burned arm, and a shattered heart. But the story does not end there.
On the third day, the stone was rolled away. Jesus took on the wrath of God that was ours to suffer so that we would be forgiven for our sins. He died but three days later, He rose. Why would He do that? Because He loves us and wants an intimate and personal relationship with us.
And so I am incredibly joyful to know that God loves me and cares about me. And that He gave me the foresight to buy two cans of Amy’s organic (spicy) chili.
