A quick thread on back issues, ennui regarding characters, and helping out your local comic shop during these perilous times. So my favorite art book based on a comics artist is THE ART OF JOCK published by @insighteditions
Now I'm going through this book for like the 50th time and this time I really pay attention to the section where the artist reveals he did a SAVAGE WOLVERINE arc for @Marvel
Now real talk, I am 50 years old, I have been reading comics with Logan since UNCANNY X-MEN #112 dropped in 1978. Now I'm about to say something blasphemous.
I am fuggin' TIRED of Logan. I have lots of fond memories of him, but I love Laura more. I'm weird. I like change.
But when a unique voice like that of @Jock4twenty does a finite Wolverine story, that intrigues me because I know it will be OFF THE CHAIN.
So I go to Amazon ONLY TO CHECK THE TPB DETAILS NOT TO GIVE BEZOS MOOOOORE MONEY, and turns out the arc comes with other stories that I have no awareness of, and thus a limited interest.
So then I think to myself "Wait. What if @Mrbulletproof1 has the original issues???"
So I text the owner, friend and good all-around member of the community Hank Kwon, and I send him these images to ask if he has the issues.
He says he has them!!! In storage. So he'll have them for me next week, to charge my card and mail them out.
So if there is a omic book story you would love to read right now, check with your LCS. They may have it! A win-win for everyone. Comics are great. Retailers are our people. Let's find some new memories in the infinite world of back issues.
P.S. Wolverine says "Hi." 😁
