Pettiness robs many momentary joys and has killed many a beautiful future in the petulance of its imposition.

And it is thus for these reasons we find pettiness to be a hallmark of deficient character, in its insistence that the inconsequential matters, & so must be fought over.

And so we not only find pettiness to be a tactical faux pas of knowing when to pick ones battles, but that furthermore in allowing transient bad feeling to fester & give amplitude to the not so significant, that one in doing so doesn't merely neglect the garden, but torches it.

Of course the greatest fault of the petty is a deficit in discernment. To them, their gripes are always meaningful, no matter how small or temporary, because it is owing to a deficit of vision that they are unable to visualise the long-term, and focus on what truly matters.

The petty never believe themselves petty, only that those with whom their gripes lie are insensitive.

They have no appreciation of priority, magnitude or transience, and make false and apocalyptic inferences based on the most cursory of data.

It is truly, neuroticism run amok.
