Per the New York Times, Reade made a complaint to a police department which “didn’t mention Joe Biden”. She didn’t name Biden, presumably in order to avoid committing the crime of filing a false police report. https://twitter.com/scottmstedman/status/1249100951819964418

Reade told *the media* that her complaint was about Biden, but as @CLewandowski_ pointed out so memorably in his House hearing, it’s not a crime to lie to the media.

It’s also important that Tara Reade did not, in fact, file a lawsuit, as @forensicnewsnet @ScottMStedman and other Bernie Sanders supporters have claimed, as a lawsuit would require a sworn, and therefore perjurous, claim that @JoeBiden assaulted her. Perjury is also a crime.

In fact, in @AmandaMarcotte’s piece for Salon, Tara Reade - whom Bernie supporters say was failed by @TIMESUPLDF - makes it clear she will NEVER sue @joeBiden. Of course not, that would be committing the crime of perjury.

Reade wanted to sue those who “called her a Russian agent”. But nobody had. A great failing of @AmandaMarcotte’s piece was to both-sides Reade’s lies, in this case against @IsaacDovere. He never called her a Russian agent. Marcotte wrongly implied he did.

“Is Reade a Russian Spy?” @AmandaMarcotte asked in a headline. “It’s highly doubtful, and here’s why”. You might hope to see examples of people who had called Reade a spy, but Marcotte didn’t have even one example.

Marcotte, implying @IsaacDovere had called Reade a “Russian spy” because he is a Biden supporter, said he’d “attempted to discredit her” by pointing out her blogs and tweets for Putin. “Biden supporters have pulled this narrative back into play” Marcotte dishonestly suggests.

The facts are @IsaacDovere never at any point accused Reade of being a Russian spy and @Salon @AmandaMarcotte literally repeat his reporting later in the very same article. Furthermore, her fawning on Putin IS discreditable, for any American, and a Democrat in particular.

Thirdly, showing, with evidence, that Tara Reade was fawning all over Vladimir Putin does indeed add yet another element of doubt and discredit to her fantastical lies, which is what whey are. It doesn’t make her a “Russian spy” and nobody said it did.

The key thing to Tara Reade’s false accusations against Biden is her refusal to repeat the lie in any circumstance where that is criminal.

No police reports, no lawsuits, no sworn statements. Not a single one. Reporters, including citizen journalists, should point that out.

If you are a Bernie Sanders supporter shilling for Tara Reade and you do not demand she file a true police report, or a sworn lawsuit - that she legally attest, as Kavanaugh’s accuser did, that this happened - then you are simply not serious about #MeToo and sexual assault. Ends.
