Credit where it's due. This was very good.

Don't @ me, my justifiable criticisms continue, but this, right here, was a good message.

I understand the urge to treat this as a war, but stop it.

The first casualty of war is truth. Deception is vital against an intelligent enemy.

But deception is mad when our chief weapon is science. Science demands truth: lives depend on it.

I can't be alone in tearing my hair out when I hear ministers evading hard realities and slithering out of questions. Just say "we made mistakes, we are fixing them".

And opposition: let them say it. Just nod, and then help. Suspend politicking and be honest. We deserve it.

Next: wonderful that you thank the NHS, but you literally voted against paying them. And you led a campaign to oust Jenny and Luis, the NZ and Portuguese nurses you named.

Begin the process of rolling back on that. Pay properly. Welcome openly. Learn the lesson.

Last: this is a global crisis, so stop being so parochial. The appeals to nationhood repulse half of Scotland and much of Wales. It doesn't help.

I'm glad Boris Johnson is recovering, but as well as being better, I hope he becomes BETTER. That's what's needed.
