I've been playing Animal Crossing since the original on the GameCube and I can safely say that while each installment improves on almost everything, the one thing they consistently get worse at each time is villager dialogue

It's not even that they're too nice, it's mostly that they're unrealistic as hell. You just meet and they instantly act like your best friend in the world. In the older games they started of kinda distant and over time they would warm up to you until they're nice to you, (cont.)

like friends. "Cranky" used to be my favorite villager type because they were funny and after a while they like you while still being cranky. Nowadays cranky villagers just talk like old people for some reason????
