NOBODY talks about the weird “coincidence” of Gypsy Rose Blanchard being named Gypsy Rose...as in Louise from the musical Gypsy, a young woman who was controlled and manipulated by her overbearing mother who constantly pressured her to be a performer so she could live through her
The musical Gypsy is loosely based off of the story of Gypsy Rose Lee, the worlds most famous burlesque/strip tease artist. Also known as Louise Hovick, She grew up performing from a young age alongside her sister June Hovick, under the management of her mother Rose.
Rose Hovick and Dee Dee Blanchard have some CRAZY similarities:

1. Hovick falsified different birth certificates for her daughters in order to claim different ages for them. This was done in order to evade child labor laws/make her kid younger and cuter (aka more profitable)
1. Blanchard also lied about her daughter’s age. This was done as a manipulation tactic so Gypsy couldn’t leave her care. It was also done to make her appear younger to garner more sympathy (and money) from the public.
2. Both Hovick and Blanchard had violent opinions about their daughter’s love lives. Blanchard HATED the idea of her daughter growing up so dating was out of the question. She limited all of her access to socialization form the outside world (aside from with her neighbor Lacey)
2. Hovick attempted to shoot Bobby Reed, the man who eloped with her daughter June. She supposedly did shoot a woman dead after she made a pass at Louise. It is speculated that this woman was actually Rose Hovick’s lover and that was the reason she killed her.
3. Most notably, both women were extremely controlling of their daughters in order to profit off them. Blanchard did everything she could to convince her daughter/the public that Gypsy was ill so she could get donations, sympathy, and even a house from habitat for humanity
3. Hovick exploited her children from the time they could walk, forcing them to be performers so she could live through their success and profit off of their acts. It wasn’t until after her death that the girls felt free enough write about their experiences.
And as we know, Gypsy Rose Blanchard felt so controlled and oppressed by her mother that she felt the only way out was to orchestrate her murder. None of these women truly felt free until their mothers were no longer alive.
To wrap this thread up, I have a theory:

Dee Dee was familiar with Gypsy Rose Lee, and had planned the exploitation of her daughter from before her birth. Naming her Gypsy Rose was humorous to her, knowing her daughter would also be a show pony in a twisted way.
