So like a lot of people, I was initially confused by the Bailey sketch on SNL last night ending with "Louis CK's special is actually very funny! Download!” thing. Was that an actual cringey shout out? But a look back at Bailey’s history says no. (thread)

Bailey always throws in some random (awkward!) statement at the end, but she does it when the audience is applauding. The joke is that it’s usually something pretty awful. Case in point: "Lady Bird sucks! Directors should be men!”

So here, the pre-taped thing and no audience thing for her to yell over, and a usual “Bailey is notably anti-SJW” joke that just wasn’t as clear just didn’t land. Unlike, say, "The Joker director was right! Comedy’s too woke!"

Or "Superheroes can’t be women! It doesn’t make sense!"
