Arguing about USPS privatization is fun because everyone knows what the Post Office is and does, but also the stakes seem kind of low so everyone can just let their ideologically commitments run rampant.

Instead of debating the cost-effectiveness of different approaches to delivering mail (boring!) we get to debate the *legitimacy* of public sector institutions in general.

(In Europe where the general point is not in dispute, postal services are privatized)
