The revelation that Trump was willing to let this virus "wash over" the country—killing millions—to preserve the economy is instructive as to what this madman will do in May. If you truly don't care how many people get COVID-19, you can "reopen" America whenever you feel like it.

In other words, after yesterday's revelation we can finally dispense with the fantasy that Trump is making any sort of humane assessments regarding this outbreak. He's making—exclusively—sinister political calculations that have *nothing* to do with whether any of us live or die.
