lots of thoughts, esp about Easter. i’m having a hard time celebrating Christ breaking through the gates of hell & totally pwning death, mostly bc a bunch of fellow Christians who should 100% know better are clamoring for attention in ways that could literally kill people.
i’m disappointed & angry, partly bc the Gospel *actually says* that worshipping at home is legit valid & that making a big scene about it means that the attention IS your reward, & that’s it (Matt 6:5-6). there’s also claims of being oppressed “bc Christian.” that ain’t it, bruh.
like, Easter is the whole point. God gives life in all kinds of ways, & when it comes to this wilderness moment in human history, we’re given the gift of doctors, scientists, first responders, etc., all of whom are telling us that staying home is how we have life.
“we’re such turbo Christians that we do a better job of defying death than Jesus! our faith is so powerful that we can deny his actual life-saving gift!”
i mean, that’s what it really is, isn’t it? it’s a display for the crowd that they know better & can do whatever they want.

it’s pride*. it’s the thirst for recognition & power in the face of something only wisdom & collective prudence can survive.
it’s disbelief in the saving power of Christ by those who are actually afraid to die bc there’s desperation to prove we’re bullet proof. which we’re not.

it makes me sad that some who proclaim their faith in God are doing something so dangerous & foolhardy.
faith is

faith is
we don’t need to shout from the mountain top that “I AM MEGA-CHRISTIAN” bc who we are & our small daily acts should speak of our faith for us.
sure, we can talk about our beliefs. that’s solid. i’m 100% good w/that. but when screaming who we are & doing whatever the hell we want risks the lives of others?
i’m pretty sure that’s NOT what Jesus would do.
happy Easter.

*oh & ps... pride? that’s what caused Lucifer’s fall from heaven.
just FYI.
