1/ situation you can see coming a mile away and curious what can be done about it.

People like @nntaleb and others familiar with math, risk, and/or pandemics have long said the only undereaction is not overreacting. Ie, the outcome is either mass death or a sense we overreacted
2/ if we come out of quarantine before we have sufficiently tested and contact traced, which we most certainly will, there will be risk of a huge second peak, obviously. But because of both innumeracy and the politicization of everything in this country...
3/... if statistics & experts deem we should isolate again, there will be a large swath of political leaders who say “the last time this happened, we overreacted and destroyed the economy” and wont re-quarantine.

Don’t see how to avoid this. Doesn’t bode well for 2nd wave
4/ postscript. Yes, I realize that the massive loss of life now sure doesn’t feel like we overreacted. Im saying you can be sure that there will be folks/leaders who claim “we destroyed the economy & look, fewer people died than <insert bad comparison>”
