Each of us is a Noah's ark ride for the microbiome. When completely harmonized things go great. When outside influences kill off the good parts things go bad..
Read that highlighted statement below please. And see how it correlates with everything I'm saying in my pinned tweet. You can develop a vaccine and those are important. But you could prevent more disease by doing just what she's saying there.
you can maintain the gut microbiome at a healthy level through diet and if someone is deficient in a certain combination of things that reduces their immunity you could reseed it with the correct bacteria.

"~one of her colleagues wants her to get involved in a study to determine if environmental air pollution affects the gut microbiome"

Of course it does. But it's a component to the whole that is affecting the system. See my pinned tweet
What you start out with is not what you end up with and how it's affected between point a and point b infancy to elderly is the key to it all.
diversity of the microbiome of nursing home residents is not as diverse as the rest of the population and they don't know why. we have seen from outbreak that nursing home residents were extremely susceptible to covid. nursing home residents all eat the exact same food. Cont..
As we see from the chart the diversity of the population of microbiome in the elderly decreases in general and if they are institutionalized in nursing care they all eat the same food further removing diversity making them highly susceptible to disease.

people might ask me you're not a doctor you can't possibly understand this stuff you're just cutting and pasting. Will let me tell you something below in that picture is a functional block diagram the same thing I used for system analysis on the f-18 avionics. engineered system
Butyrate production in the large intestine supported by dietary fiber. She said butyrate is a powerful anti-inflammatory.
same food pyramid just upside down.The American diet is the one on the right. And the poorer population is eating an even more exaggerated bad version.Are instances of covid in the African American population a result of this? Or did we get a sample of a less affluent group?
@Surgeon_General
I think you're right. I think you've got to break the study down by income level also to truly prove it. Otherwise it's an indicator of something else more general to the diet of the less affluent. As an accelerant to different genes and microbiome
Additive effects and where is the tipping point. Microbiome population can handle it but then finally it's finished handling it and then we are wide open to infection. Due to cumulative diet and environmental effects. See my pinned tweet this thread corroborates everything I said
