This might be a fringe opinion, but the more I play FF7R, the less I like the battle system. You can& #39;t actually dodge most attacks, nothing has any invincibility frames, there& #39;s minimal automatic spacing correct on most abilities and even limit breaks can miss.
But the thing I hate most is the startup on, well, everything. I pick an attack and then it takes so long to come out that either:
-the character gets interrupted and the resource is still used (MP and ATB)
-the enemy shifts into a mode where it& #39;s invincible
-the attack misses
With an ability, okay, sure, whatever. With magic, that really sucks because you lost ATB and MP. But even a limit break can have this happen. What the actual fuck?
I know it& #39;s not actually an action game, but even FFXV did this better, I feel. The FF7R system isn& #39;t irredeemable, but I feel like you should reward people for actually trying to dodge, block, use abilities to pass through attacks, etc. The current system just says "fuck you".
And no, I really, really don& #39;t enjoy running around the battlefield in a circle for 60 seconds so that I can get 1ATB to be able to do something other than mash square, thanks. Especially when that thing is a heal and there& #39;s a chance that the enemy might interrupt it.
