In order to keep resistance paralyzed, they allowed you to think that they were idiots, incompetent, the gang that couldn't shoot straight to mask that they were a team of master criminals and authoritarians. They suck up every day's oxygen with clown antics (covfefe) and gaffes.

A series of institutional mechanisms were dangled before us. Jill Stein's recount, the hamilton electors, Mueller, SDNY, the list goes on and on. But what it effectively did was paralyze real resistance. There is only one thing that they fear, which is millions in the streets.

The primary tool that police use to break up protests is physical force. Tackling, grabbing, hitting. I believe they are far less interested in getting close to a stranger right now than they were before. I believe city officials will not let the cops pack jails with protesters.

In order for this to work, the most visible people with the most resources and biggest platforms have to get involved. Unfortunately, this would probably be the celebrity and politician class. Neither of them seem to be willing to risk very much so far. And risks go up over time.

If I could write the story going forward, it would go like this. The women who warned us what was coming start a group chat that turns into a virtual summit that includes individuals representative of all the factions and demographics of our resistance. And they talk.

What do we stand for? What are we fighting for? Who will lead us? And when do the protests start. It will be extremely important to keep away people who have gotten everything wrong for several years. Everything about this will be difficult. But there's still time for resistance.

More people than ever have no jobs to go to. They don't have to worry about getting fired and not making rent because they can't make rent now. And evictions are frozen. There are some opportunities in this crisis. But it's the 11th hour now.
