We use @USPS to ship our posters, both because it's the most affordable way to get them to our customers and because the USPS is required by law to deliver to every community in the U.S. In fact, shippers like FedEx and UPS use USPS to deliver to communities they don't serve.
In the midst of a pandemic and economic crisis, the current U.S. administration is looking to do away with USPS once and for all. It's a public service used by all Americans, one that can't be done profitably. And if it's privatized, rates will soar and service will suffer.
Please contact your elected representatives and encourage them to keep meaningful emergency funding for the USPS in the CARES Act. People across the country depend on The Postal Service to deliver prescriptions, food and other necessities. Losing it will hurt all of us.
P.S. In 2006, The Postal Accountability and Enhancement Act (PAEA) required USPS to create a $72 billion fund to pay for the cost of its post-retirement health care costs, 75 years into the future. 75. YEARS. No other federal agency or private corporation is required to do this.
Without this extraordinary mandate, USPS would have recorded an operating PROFIT for the past six years running. Imagine the U.S. government under either party passing legislation that required this of any corporation.
UPDATE: JUST Text "USPS" to 50409 to send a letter of support for the USPS to all your elected officials.
Takes about a minute. Please do this. Thanks!
