Hello guys!

A thread on termination of pregnancy or abortion, since I've been getting a few questions on the topic.

The following tweets on medical grounds contain scientific facts, not opinions.

A foetus may only survive outside of a uterus after 22 weeks of pregnancy in developed countries and after 26 weeks in the developing world. Even with intensive medical care, these foetuses have high mortality rates.

Until at least 22 weeks, feotuses are completely dependant on the uterus & show a "parasitic" relationship with the host mother, leeching off nutrients for its survival even when the host herself lacks enough to survive.

Benefits of pregnancy mostly seem to manifest themselves when the pregnancy is actually planned and wanted by the host. Even when wanted, pregnancies may be mentally and physically taxing to most women.

If a foetus can survive on its own without a host, it can be taken out and be helped to survive without "aborting" it and without putting a person through a ten month physical and mental commitment of carrying it against their will.

Forcing an unwanted pregnancy on a person is infringing on their bodily autonomy and hence is a direct violation of their fundamental human rights. No one should get to tell you what to do with your own body.

End note - Yes, contraceptives aren't 100% effective. Thank you for reading this thread!
