one of the fun elements of this crisis has been slowly radicalising my mum:

mum: after this they’ll have to give nurses a pay rise

me: no they won’t

mum: why not?

in a way i prefer the american conservatives’ “healthcare is evil communism” narrative over the mawkish sentimentality about the nhs pushed by the tories as they slowly undermine it to death
