My mom was a single woman w/3 kids who struggled to make ends meet. For decades she delivered mail for the #USPostalService in the scorching heat, the pouring rain, with a bag way too heavy, she even delivered mail in our neighborhood bec she couldn’t afford daycare. #saveusps
My mom delivered so much more than just bills with the USPS. The post office will deliver coconuts sent from vacations, letters from war, deliver ashes to loved ones, and often times they are the only ones to daily check in with those who live alone. #SaveUSPS
Besides the USPS, who else goes to every home every day? My mom noticed when mail started to overflow at a home or her regular route friend wasn’t outside to meet her, she’s saved lives, found people who lost their lives, reported suspected elder or child abuse. #USPostalService
The Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive by the #USPostalService is the USAs largest single-day food drive. My mom would walk her route with that big bag on her shoulder, and once a year she would do so w/ the extra weight of cans. No complaints. She loved collecting the donations.
I could share stories for hours about the USPS. The negatives, the positives, but at the end of the day I’m going to say that the #USPostalService gave my single mom without a college education a career that kept us fed and sheltered. Their job matters and it needs to be saved.
