While it’s difficult for me to respond to “He is risen!” with “He is risen indeed!” I’m still compelled by the person of Jesus. An #Easter thread:

I love that he seemed less interested in what people thought or which group they identified with and more interested in them loving one another. I love the way he demonstrated that loving people often requires getting dirty, getting hurt, or worse.

I love that he was radically inclusive, much to the dismay and frustration of the religious people of his day, who seemed to be the only ones that ever really angered him.

I love that he always sided with the poor, the exploited, and the disadvantaged while warning of the dangers of loving and hoarding money. Instead, he promoted the idea of selfless and sacrificial giving.

I love that he answered violence and hate with love, even to the point of his own death.

I want to be more like Jesus.
