There's a lot of eye rolling in response to the question of whether lockdowns work

"Of course they do, nevermind the data."

But consider other infamous moments in medical history:

"Hand washing is pointless, nevermind the data."

"Limes don't cure scurvy, nevermind the data."

I'm sure a doc could help me expand this list without limit:

"Of course stents work, nevermind the data."

"Of course meniscectomies work, nevermind the data"

"Of course spinal fusion works..."

It's weird that the more "obvious" a truth, the more we exempt it from proof
