I’m watching Belgravia tomorrow on EPIX Prime. The reason why it’s not a PBS show is that the production costs were too high. Fans not supporting period dramas means fewer productions. It’s that simple.
There are valid arguments about a fragmented market and for people who are fixed income/unemployed right now. But this thread is for the entitled people who can afford who think the UK studios can afford to hand everything out for free. Nope.
Supporting a niche genre means doing what you can to keep it going. It’s OK to wait for the whole season, it’s OK to wait for the DVD’s. It’s not OK to ask for illegal downloads when there is legal access in the US. Not everyone has to live tweet.
Belgravia might end up getting a repeat airing on PBS 2 or 3 years from now. That’s what happened with Howard’s End for the same reason. Might is a key word, it may not happen if Epix doesn’t want other people with their copyright.
If you want to save money, take the free trial at the end of the 6 episode season. Let me let you in on a secret: you don’t need every streaming service ever. You can cancel and restart the obscure ones as you need to. :)
