Today’s Question of the Day:

What are a few of the random little things you miss with no baseball to watch for now?

I’ll go first in a thread of replies...
I miss the shot of adrenaline that rushes through my body when the game open billboard hits the air...
I miss the way I slide toward the front of my chair when a long fly ball leaves the bat, and I’m just not sure if it’s going to go...
I miss checking back on where the runner who was at first base is on a ball hit into the gap or down the line to see if he has a chance to score...
I miss the relay throw home on a possible play at the plate...
I miss that split second when you have to wait for the umpire to make his call on a bang-bang play...
I miss waiting to see if an outfielder holds up his glove to show you the ball after a diving attempt when you’re just not sure whether or not he made the catch...
I miss watching players do early work in an empty ballpark 4 hours before first pitch...
I miss coaches and managers who get to the ballpark as early as 10 or 11 in the morning to do all the work no one even thinks about so they’ll be prepared for a game that doesn’t start until 7...
I miss boarding the charter every single travel day and, no matter how many times in a row it’s happened, always being amazed that our incredible Delta flight attendants always have my beverage and snacks of choice waiting for me at my seat...
I miss the look on a child’s face when a player hands him or her a baseball...
I miss a really well-performed National Anthem...
I miss the look in a player’s eyes the day he first arrives in the major leagues, as he walks into the clubhouse or out of the dugout and on to the field in a big league park for the very first time...
I miss seeing a pitcher acknowledge a teammate for making a great defensive play behind him.
I miss the tying man at third and 2 outs in the 9th inning...
I miss the way every walk-off win is celebrated like it’s Game 7 of the World Series...
And, while I could keep going, I’ll end with I miss saying good night to the same group of fans who wait in the same spot outside of the ballpark after every single game, every single night.
