11 years ago, my husband and I decided to walk The Ridgeway National Trail. We divided the trail into 12 sections & walked one section per month, starting in January 2009. I took photos along each walk & these photos became the backbone for an exhibition. #virtualridgeway
My exhibition was called A Ridgeway Journey which I exhibited in 2012 in a gallery in Goring (Art at Goring).
The idea was to present a walking & seasonal diary of the walk through the eyes of a landscape artist & each painting would be strictly a view from the trail.
I produced a walking diary and map of each section (which formed part my exhibition) & the section I am talking about today was between the Uffington White Horse & Sparshot Firs which takes in one of my favorite landscapes, The Devil's Punchbowl.
This is the view you get as you pass the Devil's Punchbowl. The striking triangle chalk field stands out against the backdrop of the Vale of the White Horse.
And this one I called, The Thames Valley Sweep, with the cooling towers of Didcot Power Station just seen in the distant horizon line.
We walked this part on Easter Day (13.04.09) and for all of us who are unable to enjoy our beautiful countryside at this time, I wanted to wish you and your loved ones, a very HAPPY EASTER and wish you all well. #virtualeaster #virtualridgeway #virtuallandscapes
