Sad to hear Stirling Moss has died. Once interviewed him at his elegant Mayfair house. There was a button he installed for when he had dates round, which seemed to do nothing. "But the bath would run two floors up. I’d say, & #39;Now you’ve run the bath, we better go have one.& #39;" Lad.
He had a portion of the living room ceiling cut out so that his wife could put a meal on a tray in the kitchen upstairs, press a button, and send it down so it descended into his lap while he watched TV. Very Thunderbirds.
He was fairly dismissive of the SLR series that Mercedes named after him and I loved how he described the type of driving he preferred: "I’d far rather take a small car and drive it really hard and wring its neck."
