Europe’s top u25 creators 💥

In this thread, I’ve used data to create two graphs illustrating the best creators in Europe’s top five leagues. From those graphs, I’ve picked out 3 ‘standout performers’ and 4 ‘ones to watch’ with further analysis.

Graphs first 👇
Assists per 90 x key passes per 90

These metrics measure meaningful contributions in terms of attacking influence. The high rankings of Trent and Hakimi show how influential full-backs are these days. Grealish’s attacking output could sky-rocket in a better side.
Passes to the penalty area per 90 x through balls per 90

This takes a granular look at creativity by illustrating influence that isn’t converted. Pellegrini, Odegaard and Brandt ranking highly here and lower before shows work that isn’t rewarded by standard metrics.
Standout performers 🔥

Both graphs bring up some familiar names that you’d expect. So let’s take a closer look at three standout performers that have rightly been touted as some of the most promising creators in Europe.
1. Jadon Sancho (20)

It’s no surprise that Sancho ranks highly in both graphs. There are so many reasons to be excited about his future development and I don’t think it’s an exaggeration to say that he’s worth his triple-figure price tag.
2. Christopher Nkunku (22)

RB Leipzig yet again proving how good their recruitment model is. He can play a range of attacking positions and has excelled this season with Timo Werner. Could we see increased responsibility next season if Werner leaves?
3. Trent Alexander-Arnold (21)

The fact that a 21-year-old full-back can get onto these charts says something about his ability. He’s a generational talent that Liverpool have developed perfectly. I see no reason to change his position if he carries on like this.
Ones to watch 👀

Next, I’ve picked out four players identified through both graphs that have a promising future and have registered numbers that could indicate world-class development over the next year or two.
1. Harvey Barnes (22)

Much has been made of James Maddison but Barnes is just as promising in my opinion. His cutting-edge in the final third and improving end product could see him become a key player for Leicester next season.
2. Dejan Kulusevski (19)

Dejan Kulusevski has been impressive on loan at Parma this season. His 5 goals and 7 assists in the league are good numbers for a 19-year-old. Juventus look to have an exciting prospect on their hands.
3. Emiliano Buendia (22)

Buendia ranks highly in terms of key passes and passes to the penalty area, but less so in terms of assists. These numbers illustrate that his high attacking contributions aren’t being rewarded by teammates. Expect that to change in a better side.
4. Josip Brekalo (21)

The Wolfsburg forward has contributed 7 goals and 6 assists this season. High influence in both graphs show him to be a frequent creator who could be ready for a step up to a big side in a year or two.
