Between the time I went into the bedroom after lunch, 2 hours ago, and now, a magpie robin has moved into a light fixture.
Just when I was thinking this is probably a trial nest and the birdies won’t actually lay eggs, they did.
We are now 'guests' in our own home having relinquished our bedroom to the magpie robin who was fleeing from her nest every time we walked in. So we packed our bags and moved to our guestroom, locked out during a lockdown. No more updates for the next week or two at least.
Adding a tangent to this thread. I'm so glad I don't have to do this. I don't have the boobs to carry it off for one thing. More importantly, I don't have the grit or patience to play bird-mom. https://guardian.ng/life/woman-hatches-duck-egg-by-carrying-it-in-her-bra-for-over-a-month/
This is crazy. Now their voices are louder, I hear them begging every time a parent brings food. So I started jotting down the times when they were fed. First 4 entries are approximate.
Almost 2-weeks old and demanding food nonstop. Don’t let their relative silence in this clip fool you.
These are the neatest houseguests we’ve ever had. I spread the newspaper more than 2 weeks ago to catch a dud egg or poop. So far nothing.
Spoke too soon. One of them trying out its wings sat on the edge and pooped. Good thing I didn’t remove the newspaper.
Saw the 3 young tykes for the past couple of evenings following their parents around in flashes of black and white.
