Ok so the Dutch government is handling #COVID19 almost as bas as Trump. They’ve been touting herd immunity and are not enforcing social distancing in any way that I have seen. Everything is open, people are out on the streets, no one is wearing gloves or masks (1)
Yes many non-essential businesses have their employees working from home, like me a fashion designer, but those restrictions are meant to be lifted May 1st. The Netherlnads is not widely testing or tracing anyone with the virus so the death and infection numbers are way below (2)
The actual numbers. We dont know who is infected here at all. And this country has a fairly small population. The CEO of my company would prefer us all to be in the office, even though we have proven we can work from home no problem. So when the govt lifts the restrictions (3)
On May 1st, the CEO will require us all back in the office or we’re fired. The office has about 200 people working in it, it’s an HQ based in Holland. There is no way at all for employees to remain 6 ft apart in this office, impossible. So my choices are to refuse to come in (4)
Because I dont want to catch the virus and get fired, and probably not be able to get another job for 2 years because fashion is not essential and the industry will be crippled after this. Or go in and wait for the second wave to hit, hoping I wont be part of it..... (5)
Getting fired would fuck up my entire life and I’d be forced after a few months to move back to the States with no health insurance and no chance of getting a job for 2 years. But going to the office here chances me catching a deadly virus that might kill me or my husband. (6)
So what can I do? How can I survive this? (Some social interaction here would really help out a lot) /end thread
